New NHTSA Odometer Disclosure Regulations eff. 1/1/2021
Beginning January 1, 2021, federal regulations will be updated to require an Odometer Disclosure Statement for model year 2011 vehicles or newer transferred within 20 years of the year it is manufactured.
VERIFI will continue to require a mileage entry for vehicles entered into the system. Titles for applicable vehicles will be printed with the corresponding mileage opposed to indicating “exempt.” For dealers utilizing a DMS (Dealer Management System), please ensure its ability to accept mileage entries for vehicles 10+ model years old and generate an Odometer Disclosure Statement.
Note: This update only impacts vehicles beginning with model year 2011. Examples and the relevant portion of the federal regulation are provided for your reference below.
Examples:
An odometer statement is required for a model year 2011 vehicle that is transferred from 2011 through 2030.
