When a dealer issues a secure paper MV-50, they will need to update VERIFI to account for the secure paper MV-50 in their records.
Until they enter the secure paper MV-50 information into VERIFI, the vehicle will not move in their book of registry from “in inventory” to “sold” and, if the purchaser is a NYS dealer, it will not move into their book of registry as available for sale.
Failure to make timely entry by the selling dealer into VERIFI will effectively block the purchasing NYS dealer from selling the vehicle. It will not be available in their inventory.
If a dealer has not accounted for all of their secure paper MV-50’s when ordering a new MV-50 book, the order will be rejected until VERIFI is up to date.
Additionally, whenever a dealer completes the VERIFI entry to account for the secure paper MV-50, they will be presented with a dropdown menu that includes the following reasons:
- Power Outage
- Internet Outage
- Private Sector Partner Outage
- Correction/Retain Original Sale Date
