Retention of Used Secure Paper MV-50 Copies

Dealers are required to maintain the “dealer copy” (Part 2) of all secure paper MV-50s they issue.  The dealer copy must be retained for at least five years from the date of issuance, after which they may be destroyed (see, Commissioner’s Rules & Regulations section 78.25). 

Failure to produce the dealer copy upon demand could result in administrative sanction.  

REMINDER:

Dealers are NOT required to print and retain copies of eMV-50s produced in VERIFI. (see, Commissioner’s Rules & Regulations section 78.9(d)).
