DMV/VERIFI Tip of the Week, #75
As you are aware, effective 10/9/19, the DMV changed its “Application for Registration and Title” (MV-82) form to include some new questions. Specifically for dealer sales, the DMV created a new form entitled “Vehicle Registration/Title Application for Dealer Sales” (MV-82DEAL). A copy the new MV-82DEAL is attached. This new form is now the default registration and title application in VERIFI and is also available at https://dmv.ny.gov/forms/mv82deal.pdf.
We recognize that some DMS systems utilize a process where certain forms are printed through a custom process and transitioning to the new MV-82DEAL will require some programming. In order to allow for these programming changes, DMV offices will continue to accept the old style MV-82 if it’s accompanied by a completed second page of the new MV-82DEAL. This second page can be completed and signed by the dealer.
After October 16, 2019, if a dealer submits the old style MV-82 to a DMV office without the completed second page of the MV-82DEAL, the transaction will be rejected.
Currently, the MV-82DEAL is only available as print on demand. If demand dictates, the DMV will consider ordering some blank MV-82DEAL stock and making it available to dealers.
This is a temporary solution. We anticipate that within 5-6 weeks we will enforce use of the new MV-82DEAL for all transactions.
