I received a message/email about Unlogged secure paper MV-50s, what do I do?

You received this message because your Facility hasn’t accounted for all issued secure paper MV-50s in VERIFI.  We recommend doing this as soon as possible while the Quick Log tool is still available in VERIFI.  The Quick Log tool will be disabled on June 3, 2019.  Please note that you must log every secure paper MV-50 form used after October 9, 2018.

The count includes Available (not used), In Use (Draft transfers in VERIFI) and Issued (marked as issued, but sales data hasn’t been logged in VERIFI).

To be compliant, dealers should look at the Issued & Available forms; here’s a cheat sheet:

• Issued forms are likely forms that were used for sales/transfers that need to be Quick Logged.
• For In Use forms (these are Draft transfers you have started logging in VERIFI), you should simply continue to log them in VERIFI as soon as you can (for Out of State sales, Auctions etc.). However, if the drafts are really old, you might have to resort to using QuickLog after deleting the draft.
• Available forms will be used for every future sales and you use one of these secure paper MV-50s, please log the sales information in VERIFI directly. You should  log Available forms AS SOON as they are issued, using VERIFI (not Quick Log), so you can practice logging secure paper MV-50s in a timely manner (DMV expects within 24-48 hours). For compliance, Dealers should use an eMV-50 for NYS sales/transfers.

Some dealers are confused that if they returned a form within a book (along with the book), marked it as issued then it is considered logged; this is incorrect. You should have recorded the sale/transfer data for every secure paper MV-50 used in VERIFI in a timely manner or now have to use QuickLog to add in this information. Logging a secure paper MV-50 means logging all the sales/transfer data in VERIFI.
