Another type of courtesy delivery (see https://verifiny.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022509331-Courtesy-Delivery-from-an-Out-of-State-Dealer-to-a-NYS-Dealer ) occurs when a Manufacturer and a Leasing Company rely on a NYS (courtesy) dealer to deliver a vehicle(s). In this type of courtesy delivery, the Manufacturer will have generated an MSO for the vehicle(s) listing the Leasing Company as owner. To process a courtesy delivery of this type, VERIFI requires:
- If the Leasing Company and/or manufacturer are named on the front of the MSO, it can be signed over to the NYS courtesy dealer.
- The Leasing Company should provide a power of attorney that allows the vehicle to be registered by the NY Lessee, but owned by the leasing company. (Standard practice for leased vehicles.)
- The NYS courtesy dealer to enter the vehicle(s) into their book of registry.
- The NYS courtesy dealer then transfers the vehicle(s) to the leasing company via eMV-50 and completes the MV-82 with the NY Lessee as registrant and Leasing Company as owner. The power of attorney document should be attached.
- The NYS courtesy dealer must enter a note in the book of registry, indicating that the transaction was performed as a courtesy delivery.
