A courtesy delivery occurs when a dealer (the “courtesy dealer”) is responsible for delivering a vehicle on behalf of another dealer. The courtesy dealer must enter the vehicle into their Book of Registry.
The most common type of courtesy delivery occurs between an Out-of-State (selling) dealer and a NYS dealer. To process a courtesy delivery of this type, VERIFI requires:
- The Out-of-State (selling) dealer to present ownership document(s) to the NYS (courtesy) dealer.
- The NYS courtesy dealer to enter the vehicle(s) into their book of registry.
- The NYS courtesy dealer to transfer the vehicle(s) to the retail customer in VERIFI by submitting the eMV-50, completing the application for registration and title and collecting any sales tax which may be due.
- The NYS courtesy dealer to enter a note in the book of registry, indicating that the transaction was performed as a courtesy delivery.
