DMV/VERIFI Tip of the Week, #119
Date: 11/21/2024
Follow up to avoiding VERIFI errors
This is a follow up message to tip #115 that was sent out in September. Please review that tip in its entirety to avoid entry and transaction processing “errors” and avoid enforcement proceedings.
DMV continues to receive heavy call volume due to avoidable VERIFI “errors”. These “errors” require DMV intervention to correct. Dealers should expect these corrections to take 5 business days to complete in most cases.
- Validation Errors – Dealers continue to transfer incorrect vehicles. Verify you have the correct vehicle information prior to entering a transaction. DOUBLE CHECK THE VIN.
- Insurance Validation – Dealers continue to issue plates/TCRs to vehicles with the incorrect date of insurance. Date of insurance must be on or before the date of issuance of a TCR or permanent registration.
- Active Inventory Maintenance – Dealers are commonly failing to maintain accurate vehicle inventory records. Vehicles obtained by a dealer must be entered into the book of registry by close of business the following business day.
- Secure Paper MV-50s – Dealers must account for all secure paper MV-50 in VERIFI.
*** Vehicle Safety will take the appropriate administrative action for
the violations listed above. ***
